Norgren Global Vehicle Technologies’ Unit Approved for Quality Management System CertificationSeattle, WA, 4/10/2007 – A manufacturing unit of Norgren Global Vehicle Technologies has received the TS 16949 quality management system certification, the industry standard for delivering quality products and services on time and at an acceptable cost.
The unit, GT Development Corp., is a Seattle-based manufacturer of custom-engineered components for the heavy-duty truck market. GT Development was approved for the designation after successfully completing a third-party audit of its quality systems and processes.
“GT is committed to continuously improving our quality and management systems, which will raise our standards of manufacturing and services that we provide to the commercial vehicle industry,” said Dale Samples, VP of quality at GT Development. “Our goal is to contribute to the efficient production of vehicles that perform better and last longer.”
ISO/TS16949 was jointly developed by members of the International Automotive Task Force to succeed ISO 9001 and QS 9000, which expired at the end of 2006. The aim was to combine the individual requirements of the four most common automotive standards in Europe and the United States into a single standard. This technical specification, together with customer requirements, defines quality system requirements for the design/development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. Part of the evaluation includes evaluating customer satisfaction.
Receiving the TS 16949 demonstrates to manufacturers that GT Development is committed to zero defects and professional service, according to John Adami, VP sales North America for Norgren GVT. “Our customers are leaders in the industry and expect quality,” he said. “Some companies won’t do business with you unless you earn the certification.”
